4 Steps to Improving Heart Disease

Heart disease is still prevalent in our generation. There are on-going campaigns especially every February which is the month of hearts. Our heart signifies life. It reminds us that we are caring and warm beings that are not spared from the challenges and problems life has to offer. Just like any machine or electronic gadgets, our hearts go through the natural process of wear and tear. Years of research have resulted to prevention and cure of heart disease. Here are proven steps that will improve heart disease.

First step is to stay active. Our hearts have muscles that  pump blood in our entire circulatory system. There is a need to exercise to strengthen these heart muscles and for them to function properly. Lack of physical activity can result to a sudden malfunction of our hearts. This can result to poor circulation thus developing symptoms of heart disease. One doesn't have to lift weights to achieve this. In fact, what is needed is aerobic exercises such as brisk walking or running. Studies show that you must have at least 10,000 steps a day to ensure of a good heart workout.

Secondly, there must be a change in lifestyle. Vices contribute a lot in the development of heart disease. Smoking and excessive alcohol consumption should be avoided.Remember that nicotine can even cause blockage in arteries.

The third step that can improve heart disease is by eating properly. In order to stay healthy, you must be conscious of the food that you eat. As much as possible you must avoid, if not, eat less of foods high in fat, salt, sugar and calorie. It is advisable to have at least 20 to 30 grams of fiber in your diet. You can get these fiber from fruits, vegetables and natural grains. Fiber helps absorb fat, lowers bad cholesterol and eliminates toxins in the body. Eat less of meat products. It is best to eat fish meat since it's packed with fatty acids (omega 3 & omega 6) that prevent heart disease and increases metabolism. Learn this habit of reading food labels. If you're having difficulties memorizing the bad foods then rely on the food label where you see the nutrition facts. Just take note of these words:Sodium, Cholesterol, Saturated fat, Total fat, Calories. These words should either be low, zero or free.


The last step is stress management. Heart disease is developed by emotional factors as well. Studies show that a person with high levels of stress is 2.4 times more likely to have a heart attack. Stress is something abstract but its effects to the body are as follows: abnormal blood cholesterol and sugar, high blood pressure and the production of free radicals causing the hardening of arteries. Prolonged exposure to stress can cause heart disease. Learn to relax. Revert to the activities that calm your nerves. Listen to meditative or relaxation tapes. Have a massage. Make a feasible and diverse list of things you can try out. Do whatever you can to try and fight the disease.
