Things That Can Worsen Heart Disease

Heart disease is a very dangerous condition. In fact, in 2007, heart disease was the number 1 killer in the United States. However, if you have heart disease, you might be happy to know that heart disease is a quite manageable disease as long as you do things to take care of your heart. Below are some things to avoid if you have heart disease since these can actually worsen your condition. One of the hugest factors in heart disease is eating. The way that people eat, the things that they choose to put into their bodies and consume - can have a direct impact on on heart and it's function. So, how do you know if what you are eating is effecting your heart and other organs? Well some research has come about that fast foods, foods high in bad fat, grease, junk food, etc. contribute the most to heart blockages and artery hardening.

Smoking is one of the things you should avoid if you have heart disease. In fact, if you have heart disease, just inhaling secondhand smoke is bad for your heart. In fact, the CDC confirmed in 2004 that 35,000 people die a year from heart disease related to secondhand smoke. Inhaling secondhand smoke can interfere with your heart in a way that will cause a heart attack In fact, even if you inhale it for a short time, it can cause the same effect as it would for a smoker or even worse. Bottom line: stay away from secondhand smoke - it will almost always do a lot more harm than good (if any at all).

Energy drinks are also bad for your heart. In 2007 researchers confirmed that energy drinks will raise your chances for having a heart attack. The study showed that the patients’ average diastolic and systolic blood pressures jumped over 7% by the end of the test. Researchers believe this is due to the caffeine and taurine in the energy drink, which are already notoriously bad for your heart. Now, maybe consumed every once in a blue moon - in small amounts won't hurt too much, yet making energy drinks a staple in your frequent diet can be potentially dangerous.

The final thing to avoid is stress. Stress takes a heavy toll on the body, especially the heart. How it does it researchers do not know since people respond to stress in different ways. Some people actually love stress, and for these people it has no effect, but some people may overeat, exercise less, they may smoke, and/or their blood pressure may go up. If you find yourself constantly stressed out, you should take at least an hour to yourself in order to get rid of the pressure. You want to try to take all of the trials and challenges with a grain of salt. Let any anger or worry go away from your life. Be happier and joyful and light - do not stress, over analyze, or take anything bad in, just be you and enjoy your life.
